Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena the younger sister of his, is also a drummer. Lee was only two years old when his father moved his family on a trip to the United States. Lee received his first drums at age four and his first drum kit at the age of an teen. Lee dropped out from high school in order to pursue music as a career and began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based club band. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick when he was a teenager. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influences. Terry Bozzio was also a major influence.
